SteamPunk

There are a hundred different ways to describe steampunk. The basic idea is Victorian meets modern-day punk and alternative styles, mostly replacing black with dark brown, and accentuated with gold, bronze, and faded jewel tones like dark reds, purples, etc.
The term has also come to refer to genres of literature and film. The Golden Compass series is an example of steampunk literature, because the antique aesthetic of the world is hinged on very different, but very modern technology. So is SuckerPunch, although I know you are about to cringe, I thought the movie was cool because of the music and the steampunk costumes and set design.
