In Kymatica, it talks about how the ancient rituals of native people were meant to be a psychic catharsis for the tribe, thus ensuring its harmonic progression for the next season, year, etc. It was/is believed that these rituals attuned the people to their subconscious mind, their dark side. It made them understand and accept their own inner darkness, using it to gain strength and wisdom, so that they would not in turn enact their own inner demons upon others or harm themselves. This is why I only advocate hexing and cursing under the proper circumstances, it is never to be used lightly. Ask yourself, before casting a curse, if the offender has had truly evil intent. This is an important aspect of magick in general.
There have also been questions raised of seeking vengeance upon corrupt world leaders through magick. As far as I know, there is no collective effort to do such a thing, and it would take quite a bit of organized co-operation.
Be careful and just remember this: There is a point when the greatest technology becomes indistinguishable from magic.
And They have the greatest technology in the galaxy...
If you do not realize the significance of this statement, you do not need to be attempting anything on such a grand scale.
The point is, dark magick keeps us attuned to the dark aspects of our psyche, so we do not begin to fear them and externalize them, causing them to manifest in the world around us. When we light candles and honor the darkness, the night, the lunar qualities within, we are embracing everything within us which inherently "fears the light." We are acknowledging that anger, fear, sadness, and even hatred are acceptable human emotions, as long as they are used for Good and against Evil.
If you take nothing else from reading my words, please always remember: Light is NOT Good. Darkness is NOT Evil. There are MANY examples of Light Evil and Dark Good in this world. Do not be deceived by appearances. An example of Light Evil is the scandal found within organized religion. Be it the child-molesting clergy... the meth-addicted, prostitution facilitating pastors... the Crusades or the Burning Times (the centuries during which hundreds of thousands of pagans and other non-christians were burned at the stake - and even some who were christian) such examples are easily found throughout history.
Think about "Dark Good"... What unconventional, alternative, underground sources/influences have inspired your life in positive ways? What entities which society demonizes as "dark" (and therefore ignorantly believes to be "evil" or at least crazy) are actually angels in disguise, inciting revolution of thought, evolution of consciousness, and working to promote the power of Good in this world? I can think of several... Lizbeth Salander, Angelina Jolie, Marilyn Manson, Salmon Rushdi, Oscar Wilde, Picaso, Cleopatra VII, Edgar Allen Poe... the list goes on like this and I'm sure there are more you can think of, I am by no means attempting a list right this moment - of either category.
I am not saying these actors/characters upon the world stage are practicing dark magick. I am saying they are a source of inspiration behind the driving concept of dark magick - the idea that a person can love the darkness and formulate their consciousness around it and still be Good, probably even MORE whole than they would be otherwise, ignoring these aspects of themselves, which would wreak havoc upon their reality.
SO you ask, What exactly IS dark witchcraft? How is it different from regular witchcraft?
Well I have a really simple answer for you.
It is very similar to normal witchcraft, but it is dark xP
The invocations, spells, rituals, etc are more focused on the Lunar mysteries than the Solar qualities, so in place of "Bright blessings of love and light" you will see more "Dark blessings of peace and solitude" etc. The goddesses involved will be dark - Isis, Morgaine, Lilith, Kali, etc.
A perfect example is the Charge of the Dark Goddess posted on the Book of Shadows page.
It has inspired me to create a dark version of the path I have always taught, and so I will be writing dark versions of things in the days to come.
Please keep in mind, I am not talking about working with demons, devils, satan, summoning spirits or channeling elemental entities. Not only is that stuff not fun, it's really stupid. Please don't ask me if I can teach you how to do it. No, I can't. And you are a total walker for even asking. Why would you WANT to? As humans, we are potentially vastly more powerful than any of those things. Besides, they are more like silly footsoldiers of the real big bad forces of Evil, who are too busy in the white house and brainwashing their robot sons and arranging attacks in Gaza to listen to your summons, thank the Goddess.
